Welcome to the Peebles Callants Club website
Last updated 25th Feb 2016

The Scots dictionary states that the word 'callant' simply means ' a young man or lad of the town'.
Though the Callants Club is entirely a male organisation not all members will fall into the category of being 'young men'. Nor is it that all members were born in the town, many of our members have worn the club badge with pride having come to live in Peebles from outwith the Royal and Ancient Burgh.

The History of Peebles” by Callant Joe Brown is available for free download if you have a Amazon Kindle. (Amazon conditions apply).

The Royal Burgh of Peebles Callants club was formed in 1935 with its core and substance based around the Peebles Beltane Festival. But why did the club celebrate its 50th anniversary in 1985 and not 1986? Find out why in the Callants book 'From Humble Beginnings' Available from the Callants Secretary. Find out how the five founding members established a constitution that has changed little over the years.

The book along with this website will give you a small insight into what the club does in and around the Scottish Borders town of Peebles.
